My Story

I’m Paul Leo Hardiman, a marine engineer originally from Manchester, England. My journey began in the water as a competitive swimmer with Trafford Metropolitan Borough Swimming Club, where I competed from age 11 to 18. I left school with strong academic results (6 A*S, 2 As, a B, and a C in GCSES) and went on to study Sport, Exercise & Science at Sheffield Hallam University, while also attending night school for accountancy.

However, personal circumstances led me to make a major life change. I left university and relocated to Lefkada, Greece, where I began building a new life and career. This challenging time deeply shaped my outlook and eventually led me into the marine industry.

Recovery & Reinvention

On Christmas Eve 2022, I attended my first AA meeting. That day marked a turning point. Since then, I’ve been over 2.5 years sober and now help lead AA meetings to support others on their own path to healing and purpose.

That personal transformation inspired me to create a business built on the same principles that helped change my life: trust, transparency, loyalty, and hard work.

Building Hardiman Yacht Services

With over 20+ years of hands-on marine experience—including roles as a boatyard engineer, flotilla engineer, shore-based technician, and fleet manager—I founded Hardiman Yacht Services (HYS) to offer expert, dependable yacht engineering services throughout Nidri, Lefkada, and the Ionian Islands.

HYS is a family-run business. I handle all technical and engineering work, while my wife oversees client relations, scheduling, and business operations. Together, we deliver a highly personalised and reliable service for yacht owners, liveaboards, and charter fleets.
